Welcome to Open Academy.

Now in my sixth year as Principal here at Open Academy, I am pleased to highlight that we are now recognised as a GOOD school in all categories according to Ofsted.

We are oversubscribed every year now, showing we have become the Academy of choice for our local community and our standards have been recognised both locally and nationally.

Shortlisted for ‘Secondary School of the Year’ in last year’s EDP awards was a real feather in our cap and we were delighted to celebrate with one of our 6th form students, Shadrack on his success as ‘Student of the Year’ at the same awards. We were also nominated for the national Education Today award as ‘Secondary School of The Year’

At Open Academy we do things the Open Way. This describes our evidence informed approach to learning and our simple effective behaviour policy (be ready, be respectful and be safe). It is our shorthand for how we do things here and describes our learning and supportive culture.

We are a ‘values driven’ Academy and our purpose and vision statements, that you will find on this website, highlight our commitment to delivering a constantly improving education through our Christian values.

In this small inspirational community, we pride ourselves on getting to know all our students as individuals and we see everyone who is part of our community as a blessing. We do all we can to support and encourage all in our care to become the best they can be. We continually drive to meet the highest of standards whilst retaining a caring and inclusive ethos.

With a relevant curriculum tweaked and improved annually, and results that are increasing annually alongside, it is clear that students are making better and better progress over time with us.

Open Academy is a fantastic place to learn. My experiences of Open Academy inspired me to join it and it is a pleasure to work here, I hope that as you get to know us, you will feel inspired too.
